A few years ago as I found myself on the precipice of divorce and career change, and still haunted by years of self-destructive eating habits, body criticism and low self-esteem, I made a move that changed everything.
An Entourage by definition is, “a group of attendants or retainers, such as surround an important person.” Well, my friend, that important person is YOU!
Here’s the point: it’s SO important to give yourself the gift of support. Ask any successful person (Oprah, Kelly Ripa, Tony Robbins) and they’ll tell you they don’t do it all alone. They view having the right support as crucial to their success. Yet so many of us falsely believe we have to figure it all out and do it all on our own. We are ashamed to ask for help, we see it as weakness, or we see it as a luxury we can’t afford. By clinging to these beliefs you are actually depriving yourself of the success, health and joy you deserve. It’s time to change that!
So how can having an entourage change your body and your life? Well if you’ve been struggling with your weight, unwanted eating habits, compulsive dieting or exercising, or any other form of believing you need to “fix” your body before you can be happy, having the right support team is crucial. And by support team I don’t mean the latest fad diet or punishing quick-fix bootcamp. I mean people who can help you discover the true cause of your challenges with food, and discover new possibilities for yourself.
It’s about placing value on yourself, and as you do that, your life experience begins to shift.
Here are a few important things to consider when building your entourage:
- Choose people who are truly committed to your highest good and will hold you to that (not just peeps who will say what you want to hear)
- Consciously choose people with whom interacting brings your energy up, rather than brings your energy down.
- Beware of people who have their own agenda for who you are or how you show up in the world. Often they are heavily invested in you staying exactly where you are.
- Beware of offerings of a quick-fix or magic pill focused specifically on your body size. 96-99% of people who lose weight on one of these plans gain it back, and they don’t address what’s really behind your struggle.
- Look for people who have themselves achieved what it is YOU want. (You don’t learn to be a black diamond skiier by staying on the bunny slopes!)
Most of all, when it comes to healing your relationship with food and your body, you need to surround yourself with people who reflect to you your true beauty exactly as you are, and will help you begin to experience the freedom, pleasure and self-love you deserve… long term!
I’d personally love to be a member of your entourage, to teach you what’s worked for me, and to see you begin to shine as the leading actress in the musical that is your life! To learn more about how we can work together to achieve your goals, send me an email, and let’s set up a time to chat.
